As of now, all storage of high pressure gases from Hydrogen, Oxygen, Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Argon, Helium, Nitrogen, and others must be stored in cylinders. But now, with new innovations that have taken many years to develop and fine tune, they no longer need to be. High Pressure Conforming Tank Technology means those gases can be stored in vessels in any overall shape, and immensely strong, with over 1 million lbs tensile strength forming the back bone of the structure. In aerospace they can be light, and form the actual airframe/wing structuring themselves and not mounted into the airframe.

In automotive and transportation, inner vessels can still be aluminum if the manufacturer desires, but doesn't need to be as thick.  Aerospace, it is not needed.  Making these tanks much lighter, and able to average 8,000+ PSI operating pressures with virtually unlimited refilling capabilities and all weather conditions across all environmental concerns.

*Next Generation of these vessels will surpass 16,000 PSI operating pressures.
